The winner of the trophy this year was Colin
Jackman who has supported the event since day its commencement in 1997.
Colin used to play golf with Howard.
Runner up was Kevin Masters who has also played
since 1997. Third was Mike Lancaster who was part of the Computacenter team.
Harry Hughes won the Nearest the Pin trophy and
Peter Birch won the Longest Drive trophy. Hemel Trophies and Jewellers
donated these two trophies.
Pat Mumford who had to retire from last year’s
tournament due to injury won the Ladies Trophy. This year there were 5 lady
contestants.
The booby trophy was won by Peter Ashley who was
delighted to receive it!
Thanks should be given to all who continue to
support the event. These include Little Hay Golf Complex and manager Chris
Gordon; Atlas Copco, Howard’s employer, who put in a team of 20 players
this year; Lloyds TSB who donated £500. The Royal Bank of Scotland for
donating golf balls and umbrellas. Not forgetting, of course, all the
stalwarts who got very wet and very cold on the day both playing in the
tournament and serving coffee and biscuits at the 9th hole.
The 2002 event will be taking place on Sunday 1st
September at Little Hay Golf Complex in Hertfordshire. Anyone interested in
