BUPA London 10,000

30th May 2011

Congratulations and thank you to the 13 CRY runners who took part in the BUPA London 10,000 on Bank Holiday Monday, May 30th 2011. The weather held out for us, creating a sunny day with a superb atmosphere.

The first CRY runner to cross the finish line was Stephen John Busby, celebrating his 50th Birthday wearing one of our heart costumes. He finished in an incredible 52 minutes and 47 seconds - whilst Charlotte Payne shortly followed in 1 hour 3 minutes!

CRY Fundraising Assistant, Rebecca Upson and CRY Volunteer, Rowena Upson met the runners and their supporters at the end and handed out CRY goody bags.

The full list of CRY runners is as follows:

Nicola Acuta (running in memory of Ryan Darby); Paul Arnold; Karrie Bassett; Juliet Browning (running in memory of her friend Olivia Chase); Stephen John Busby (running in memory of David Charles Forway); Madeleine Cameron (running in memory of her friend Olivia Chase); Nicole Corbett; James Drury; Kathryn Ellinger (running in memory of her friend Olivia Chase); Jenny England; Katrina Everett (running in memory of Jenny and Adam Lambert); Rhian Hanson; Charlotte Payne (running in memory of Robert Allan).

We have a number of places available for the 2012 event which is planned for May 27th 2011 - why not join the CRY team? For further details please email events@c-r-y.org.uk

and below are a few words and a couple of photos from our supporter Steve Busby who ran the race in a heart costume:

"Many thanks for organising such a enjoyable event in London on the 30th May. I have enclosed a couple of pictures from the day which you are welcome to use on your website.  I was running on my 50th and was running in memory of Denise's son David Forway who died of an undiagnosed heart condition at the age of 31.  I very much enjoyed the experience of running around the London streets taking in some of the famous landmarks and had fun running in the heart costume.  I have just about collected in my sponsorship which I will forward to you in two cheques. One of the cheques is from my employer Northumbrian Water for £50 and they are pleased to be helping such a worthy cause.  Once again thank you for such a lovely day and we hope to join you again in future events."
