Staff from the University’s Jordanstown Campus travelled to the House of
Commons to attend the annual Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY)
parliamentary reception.
John Carruthers, UU Clinic Manager, Cathal Breen, lecturer in clinical
physiology and Gary Longwell, Sports Institute, accompanied Pat Jennings
OBE and CRY NI representative John Lundy to the prestigious event.
The reception marked the announcement of a CRY / Philips heart screening
partnership - a major new sports screening initiative - and highlighted
aspects of the CRY community testing programme, which has already saved
many young lives.
The UU Clinic at Jordanstown provides a
community-screening programme for 14-35 year olds in Northern Ireland.
The Clinic, which is held every four weeks, offers cardiac testing as a
means of detecting silent heart rhythm abnormalities. |
