The Lawn Tennis Association

Alison Cox initiated, with the cooperation of the Lawn Tennis Association, screening of Britain's top ranked players at the Nationals in Telford in November 1993.  Evaluation was performed by Professor William McKenna and his team from St George's Hospital involving an Electrocardiogram (ECG) to record the electrical signals of the heart  and an Echocardiogram (ECHO) which is an ultrasound scan of the heart producing an image on screen. It detects turbulent blood flow and enables measurement of heart size and muscle thickness.

Since 1993 CRY has continued the screening of LTA junior players and visits their regional centres on a regular basis.  A spokesman from the LTA said:" When I look at how hard we are starting to physically push our top juniors, I feel it is our responsibility to take every precaution we can to ensure they are fully fit first."
