Volunteers needed on race day!
The London Marathon is a massive event for CRY,
and we are always on the lookout for volunteers to help us on the day.
The kinds of duties that we are seeking assistance with, include: post-race
massage for runners; meeting CRY runners at the finish line; driving /
escorting runners from the finish to the hotel (for shower, massage, etc);
interviewing runners; organising a 'cloakroom ticket' system for runners
wishing to use the shower / get a massage; distributing refreshments to CRY
runners; setting up and dismantling CRY display boards at the post-race
venue; photography.
If you would like to help out in any way,
please e-mail rebecca@c-r-y.org.uk

After the race - leg massage
/ shower

If your legs will carry you any
further we are always delighted if you can join us at the Hilton Hotel near
Green Park tube station. A number of sports masseurs help our runners to
ease their knotted leg muscles after the race with a leg massage (approx 10
minutes on a first come basis). We also book a room at
the hotel for those of you who would like a quick shower before your journey
home.
Hilton
London Green Park - Half Moon Street, Mayfair, London, W1J 7BN
Telephone:
0207 629 7522
Directions by tube:
From Green Park
Underground, Exit onto Piccadilly Street, turn right and
walk past both Bolton and Clarges Streets. Turn down the next Road which is Half
Moon Street and the hotel will be on your left-hand side.
CRY Runners:
as you exit the finishing tunnel turn left up the stairs, cross over the plaza
and look out for a person with a CRY sign or the CRY heart logo. We will then
direct you to the CRY van which will be running a shuttle service back to the Hilton Hotel.
The
Hilton may also be a good back up plan for a meeting place for friends or family
if the mobile phone networks are tied up on the day. If you have any concerns on
the Sunday day please feel free to call Rebecca on 07958 252081, and she will help
in any way possible.

Every
year, we have a team of CRY heart costume runners.
We were delighted that the CRY heart costume runners in the London Marathon
2004 and 2005 were led by Professor
Greg Whyte, Olympic Pentathlete and CRY Chairman.
Greg also ran in a heart costume in 2003 and his image was used to decorate various magazine
features including a Third Sector article about VAT and fundraising events, and EasyJet's inflight magazine April 2004 - click on image to the left to enlarge
it.
Greg, along with many of our runners, benefited
from the personal fundraising web page which we
set up.
