However, because of the
heat I struggled from
about the 3rd mile.
The
course was extremely
hilly too, and I had
practiced round it so I
knew what was coming -
but it was so tough. The
support from the crowd
was amazing, people were
outside their houses
with hosepipes for us to
run under. It was a
great atmosphere.
However,
between miles 11 and 12
I collapsed due to the
heat and couldn't finish
the race. An ambulance
came and gave me oxygen
and did ECG and other
tests once I'd come
round. I had been
to one of the
CRY
screening clinics
just after Hayley died
and there were no
problems with the ECG
then, so I knew it was
just down to the heat -
but I felt awful for the
rest of the day and it
was pretty scary.
So,
unfortunately I don't
have much of an
inspirational story for
you but I got most of
the way and so they
still gave me a medal!
I have
raised £900 so far
and hope to get a bit
more from people who
hadn't sponsored me
beforehand.

Gosport
I took
part in another half
marathon in Gosport and
finished it in 1 hour 58
minutes, so within my
target of 2 hours.
Luckily no heatwave this
time! I have therefore
told more people about
my page and have now
raised £1000 for CRY!
