More than one in ten people who turned up for
random heart checks at a special Midland screening day against 'adult cot
death' have been referred to a cardiologist.
Group Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) held a free
heart screening day at Stourbridge Health Centre last month to prevent more
unnecessary deaths.
Organiser Roy Ball, from Quinton, whose
16-year-old son Andrew died from heart complaint cardiomyopathy while
playing football said, the successful day had alerted doctors to 18 of the
140 people who were tested.
The event was dedicated to tragic Midland victims
of Cardiomyopathy, also called adult cot death as the heart suddenly stops
beating.
Another free heart testing day is being planned
for September.
Any families interested in more information about
charity CRY should e-mail Mr Ball on
