Fernhurst frazzles to Blackdown magic

8th June 2007

When Blackdown announced that they would play the King's Arms at Fernhurst, it raised the question could the boys rock such a major venue and keep the crowd buzzing for a show running more than 2 hours?

With a masterful display of musical talent, the band quelled any doubts, keeping the enthralled audience mesmerised with some of the best songs from the history of rock music.

Kicking off with "I'm a Believer", Blackdown turned us all into believers as we watched them deftly pull together a set that kept the good times rolling throughout song after song.  Duckworth's vocals roared down the emotional highway of fifties rock and roll, sixties flower power and solid seventies rock; while Henderson provided a booming backdrop on bass, and Holgate's crisp melodies on keyboards provided spine-tingling texture.

As they stumbled home through the balmy June night, Blackdown's audience could reflect on a musical journey that met the challenge of delivering a thunderous evening of music increasingly rare in the formulaic and corporate world of rock, while at the same time raising £1000 for the charity CRY.
