The walkers
set off at 9.30am from Breathing Space Spa & Studio (who
organised the event) to raise money and awareness for the charity CRY
(Cardiac Risk in the Young)
The
walkers (dressed in their CRY sashes and armed with balloons and
leaflets) marched along the Nickey Line, (a former railway line
connecting Harpenden to Hemel) through Redbourn Village, continued
through Rothamsted Park and back into Harpenden for the start of the
Christmas Markets at 12 noon.
The 8 mile walk was to reflect the 8 ‘apparently’ fit and healthy young
people who die each week in the UK from undiagnosed heart conditions.
“It was fantastic to
see so many people turn up to support this wonderful charity which is
close to the hearts of many people in our community. A big well done and
thank you to everyone who took either took part or donated.”
Michelle Smith, Studio & Events Manager at Breathing Space
The walk has raised
over £1200 and still counting and will be used in the Coroners
Referral Project in memory of Hannah Turberville.
