Hewlett finds it tough second time around

Bridport News - 22nd April 2005

Martin Hewlett found this year’s London Marathon much harder than his first in 2003.

The Sheffield Hallam University student thinks he may have paid for an overzealous early pace.

However, Martin and his girlfriend Cara Hough did raise over £2,300 for Cardiac Risk in the Young and the National Deaf Children’s Society.

Martin, who completed the course in 3hrs 39 minutes, said: “It was very hot, probably a bit too hot for running.

“I got cramp at mile 20 so I had to walk for about three miles.  “I found it really tough this year.

“However, the crowd was absolutely amazing and it was a different experience just walking because of the amount of support you get.”

Cara completed her first London Marathon in a time of 5 hrs 50 minutes.
