When you’re only
20 months old, a walking a mile is some achievement.
Brighton toddler Olivia Henderson – or Livi as her mum Becci calls her – has
only just found her feet, yet she persevered along Peacehaven’s lower
promenade and with a break for a nap reached her goal in over four hours.
Such a brave effort was in tribute to her cousin, Emma, who died aged 13 and
as a result £100 was raised for CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young).
Emma died of a congenital heart defect in March and Becci thought that as she
was teaching Olivia to walk, a sponsored walk would be the perfect thing to do
in her memory.
Emma lived in Hayling Island and often used to visit with her sister and two
brothers, Tanya, Perry and Jason.
Becci said Emma was a lovely girl and they all used to go to the lower
promenade and play.
Talking about Olivia’s triumph she said: “She cried every now and then.
“I kept giving her a drink and sitting her in the buggy and with a nap we got
there.”
