Stuart
Helps of D & S Helps (Builders) was at Bourton Road last weekend to
present a cheque to kick off Town’s fundraising for their CRY (Cardiac
Risk in the Young) charity fun day.
Helps, along with son Jordan,
presented a cheque to co-ordinators Neville Pritchard and his son Dominic
(pictured), as Town look to raise money for the charity on Sunday,
September 21.
A number of celebrities –
including Paul Taylor (Northants and England), Harvey Thornycroft (Northampton
Saints & England), Billy Steele (Scotland & British Lions), Les Taylor (Oxford
FC and Northampton FC) and other guests from either Yorkshire CCC or
Worcestershire CCC – will be in attendance.
The senior six-a-side,
featuring sides from Axminster, Banbury Town, North Crawley. Romsey, Twyford
and the hosts, will contain a Twenty-20 atmosphere, with Lazy Fingers
providing the music.
There will be a show of kwik
cricket from Town’s under 10s, plus a junior sixes featuring local sides.
Side attractions will include
a barbecue, bouncy castle, various competitions and bar with all-day
refreshments.
Other companies sponsoring
sides are ASNA Contract Services, Abingdon Ogilvy, Barclays, Buckingham
Service Area (Esso), First Place Consulting, Heron Signs and Monarflexcopal.
There will be a prize raffle
on the day with prizes including tickets and signed memorabilia from the
cricket world – Ian Botham, Phil Tufnell, Darren Gough, Ronnie Irani,
Warwickshire, Middlesex, Durham, Steve Harmison and Stuart Law – from Rugby –
Wasps, Saracens and Leicester Tigers – from football – Liverpool and Wimbledon
– plus prizes from Ferrari, John Bercow, Staverton Park Golf, Barclays, Abbey
National and hampers and a cordless phone.
The co-ordinator for the day,
Neville Pritchard, thanked all the sponsors and emphasised that the day itself
is focused on fun, youth and families.
