Charity Show in memory of Nathan Butler

March 2008

A grand charity show was recently held at Cobridge Coronation Club, Stoke on Trent, to raise money for CRY and Mencap.  We attended with all our family and friends and what a great night it was!!

We didn’t know there were so many top-of-the-bill acts in Stoke on Trent and they raised £605 for each of the charities.

One of the acts was Danny Maverick, alias George Allen, and it was he who nominated CRY as one of the charities, as he was a friend of ours and his son played cricket with Nathan.

The show opened with a great performance from Terry Jay with songs by Joe Longthorne and Johnny Mathis.  Then came the fantastic Trevor Morray with a great Elvis impersonation, followed by the wonderful Miss Tuesday Moore doing a fantastic job of Amy Winehouse classics!

The second half of the show was as brilliant as the first with comedy and swing music from Vic Martin, followed by the zany comedy of the mad Irishman Danny Maverick and finished off with fabulous soul singer, Sid St. James - who was happy to carry on singing as long as everybody carried on dancing and it was after 1am when he finished!.

The show was compered by Ken Wilshaw and a great sell-out night was enjoyed by all involved.

Many thanks to Terry, Danny, Ken and Cobridge Coronation Club.  It was all for a great cause from which many young people will benefit.
