A real pig of an afternoon

Clacton Gazette - 10th June 2005

A fundraising family hope these three little piggies will pull the crowds.

Guy and Julia Smith will have the rare Large Black piglets on display for the annual St Osyth Open Gardens event this weekend.  And the Smiths are hopeful that Pinky, Perky and Porky, just eight weeks old, will be a hit at their garden in Pump House, Wigborough Wick Farm.

Mr Smith said: “We don’t farm pigs commercially but I’m interested in helping rare breeds and got these from Easton Farm Park in Suffolk.  The pigs, known as Blacks, are an unusual breed and very cute.  We think they will be popular.”

About 20 gardens in the village will be open to raise money for different causes.  The Smiths are raising money for Friends of St Osyth Church and Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
