Cardiac clinic needs customers

Clacton Gazette - 16th March 2006

A cardiac clinic is getting ready for its next screening and is appealing for Tendring residents who want to be tested to come forward.

The facility was established by CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) in 2004 and is one of only a few in the country.

The initiative, held in Colchester General Hospital, was established following pressure from the parents of 17 year-old Frinton youngster, Andy Gard who died from a sudden cardiac death.

The next clinic is being staged on Saturday, March 25.  Anyone between 14 and 35 can be tested and those who would like to take the opportunity of an ECG test should book a place.

This will check for the very rare conditions which, if undetected, can cause a sudden cardiac death.  The test takes no more than ten minutes.

Anyone interested should contact 01255 673598.
