MP Backing Campaign

Clitheroe Advertiser and Times - 18th March 2004

Ribble Valley, MP, Nigel Evans has called for new legislation to help prevent sudden cardiac death, a medical condition which claims the lives of up to eight apparently healthy young people every week in the UK.

Mr Evans (pictured) has put his weight behind a Private Member’s Bill, which calls for effective, automatic screening on the NHS for all high-risk families.

He has also applauded the six pioneering new clinics across the UK that has been set up by the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).

The Bill, debated in the House of Commons, has already received widespread backing from MPs.
