Trio decide to pound the pavement to help kids

THREE nurses will be swapping the wards of Cobham Cottage Hospital to pound the pavements of London on April 22.

Jackie Norbury, Diane Attfield and Celia Gutteridge are training hard in preparation for their Flora London Marathon run.

The hotfooted hospital staff are running in aid of the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young.

CRY is a charity which raises funds to provide medical information on the most common causes of unexpected cardiac death in the young.

These conditions include thickening of the heart muscle and irregularities of the electrical impulses that upset the natural rhythm of the heart and can occur in young people who seem fit and healthy.

CRY are campaigning to introduce electrocardiogram tests - which would detect the defect - to be carried out in the community for all young people.

Anyone who would like to sponsor the nurses and raise money for a good cause can do so via Cobham Hospital on 01932 - 584204 or Leatherhead Hospital on 01372 -384384
