Ben's memory inspires efforts

A charity tackling heart problems in children has been boosted thanks to pupils at Coppenhall High School in Crewe.

Year 7 pupils ran their own fundraising school fair which was dedicated to former pupil Ben Carter who died suddenly last year.

Pupils Laura Maher and Rachel Surrdige explained: "Many people knew Ben, including our own form tutor, and his brother Sam is in our form.

'So our form 7N have decided to do the fair to raise money for CRY - Cardiac Risk in the Young.'

Among the fair's attractions were a raffle, tombola and homemade cooking plus basketball and beat-the-goalie competitions.
