Running in his first Flora London Marathon saw Nantwich man Lee Johnson raise £1,600 for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY). 

He entered the showpiece event to raise money for the charity after his sister Sarah Jane died from the heart failure at the age of 29. 

Lee, 33, who lives in Taylor Drive, completed the 26 miles in four hours 47 minutes.  He said: "Those of us at the back of the field spent about half an hour getting to the line before we actually started running, so the time spent running was actually quite a bit less than that. 

"But the time was not that important, it was the money raised for CRY thanks to everyone who supported me, that was really important." 

Heart failure claims the lives of about half a dozen seemingly fit young people every week in the UK.  Lee, who trains at the Every-Body Gymnasium and Nantwich Pool said: "my sister seemed perfectly fit and healthy but she just died.  Her heart condition was undiagnosed and CRY is dedicated to providing screening facilities so that these cases are picked up in time."
