Where the money goes

All money raised for CRY goes straight into CRY Core Funding.

Many families who have suffered a tragedy also wish to start a Memorial Fund

Core Funding

CRY is totally dependent on Core Funding for its very proactive campaign.

With the exception of a one-off grant from the Department of Health (to help fund our Bereavement Support Programme) we have never received any financial support from government.  We take great pride in the fact that in spite of this, our fundraisers have raised several million pounds since CRY started in May 1995.

Core Funding enables CRY not only to maintain its office requirements but also to undertake various initiatives - e.g. the development of counselling and screening programmes; provision of all CRY literature free on request; maintaining visibility in the media; hosting conferences and events; and so on.  You can get a good appreciation of all the things that Core Funding has enabled CRY to achieve by reading about CRY's history.

Memorial Funds

A Memorial Fund can initially be set up at the same time as any donation to CRY is made.  This first donation to set up the Memorial Fund can be for any amount - there is no minimum donation amount to start the Memorial Fund.

Once a Memorial Fund is set up, the donations made into the fund will go towards CRY Core Funding.  Please try to ensure that all donations to CRY that are intended for your Memorial Fund, have the name of your Memorial Fund written on the back of the cheque (or otherwise attached to the donation) so that we can identify it.  This is really important, as unless donations are identified we are unable to ensure that they go into the appropriate Memorial Fund.  You will receive updates of your Memorial Fund several times each year.
