Heart fundraiser

Dover Express  - 28th June 2007

The aunt of footballer Paul Sykes, who died suddenly during a match in 2005, is taking part in a walk for a national cardiac charity.

Dovorian Paul, pictured, was just 28 years old when he collapsed and died from sudden death sy7ndrome while playing for Folkestone Invicta in a Kent Senior Cup match against Margate.

Teresa Davies, of Dover, will be completing an eight-kilometre fundraising walk in central London that will take in the eight bridges from Westminster to the Tower.

Walkers will be joined by opera star Kathryn Harries and ex-professional footballer Andy Scott, whose career was cut short when he was diagnosed with a life-threatening heart condition.

Cardiac Risk in the Young chief executive Alison Cox said: "We are delighted that Teresa will be joining us on this challenging and emotional event and we will all be supporting her every step of the way."
