In 2007, this event broke
the Guinness World Record for the 'World's Biggest Charity Duck Race',
when 165,000 plastic ducks floated down the River Thames from the start
point at Hampton Court.
This year the organisers hope to break their own world record by having
250,000 little yellow ducks taking part! After the event, all the ducks are retrieved
from the river, cleaned and packed away for use the following year.
Quite a clean-up operation!

When you adopt a duck, the first £2 of
your donation will go the the event's three 'lead charities' (which
this year are the Down's Syndrome Association, Water Aid and the NSPCC)
and you then have the option to make a further donation of any value to
the charity of your choice.
If you would like to 'adopt a duck' (or several!) to
support CRY in the
2008 Great British Duck Race, please go to
www.thegreatbritishduckrace.co.uk/adopt.new.php and select
Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) from the drop-down
menu of charities
