The annual CRY Heart of Durham Walk offers the opportunity to show support for CRY, remember young people and help raise awareness of young sudden cardiac death. We are immensely grateful to the families, some of whom take part every year.
When and where is it?
Saturday 5th October 11:00am, participants can arrive from 9:30am. The route goes through Durham City Centre and is approximately 8 km/5 miles long. The walk starts and finishes at Durham Amateur Rowing Club. There will be the option of a shorter wheelchair-friendly route.
How much does it cost to enter?
Adults can register for £12 pre-event when registration opens later this year or on the day registration is £15. Children 16 and under are free, but must be accompanied by an adult.
Who can take part?
Anyone with a moderate level of fitness. All ages are welcome but those aged 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Do I have to be in a team?
Not at all. Many people take part on their own. Individuals will leave first, as a group, so there will be an opportunity to meet others who are walking on their own. If you would like to take part as a team, why not get a group of friends, colleagues or family together?
Anything else I need to know?
Durham is a beautiful and fascinating city, so why not make a weekend of it? We recommend booking accommodation as soon as possible. Drinks will be available at the start and at the water station at Durham Market Place. T-shirts will be provided to walkers in advance.
