The brother of a teenager who died suddenly from a
rare heart problem is holding a fundraising event in her memory.
Mark Fox is staging a music evening to raise money
for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
His twin sister, 13-year-old Laura Fox, was found
dead in the bedroom of her family's home in Woodbridge in 1998.
Tests revealed the apparently healthy girl had
died from Sudden Adult Death Syndrome.
This heart problem is believed to claim the lives
of eight fit and healthy young people in the UK every week.
Mr Fox holds an annual event to keep the memory
alive of his sister and he worked for CRY for a year in London.
The charity works with doctors to promote
knowledge of the condition and to improve screening facilities.
He is now a fundraiser with Macmillan Cancer
Support.
Mr Fox said: "I wanted to hold an event every year
as a memory to Laura.
"At such a young age, she had so many friends and
touched so many lives with her amazing, bubbly attitude and a music night is
something she would have loved.
"She died at 13, an age no one should ever die at
with a heart condition and CRY is there to stop this happening. But
they are only a small charity and need all the money they can get."
He added: "It's a superb evening for people to
come along, relax and have great fun but at the same time raising money for
charity.
"We have a raffle on the night and sell food and
drinks and we want to make this our best year so far, so please come down."
Mr Fox completed a six-day, 100km trek through the
Sahara Desert in 2006 and he raised £4,000 for CRY.
This month's event is on Saturday at 7.30pm at
Woodbridge Community Centre with guests asked to wear red or green.
There is a disco and the proceeds will be shared
between CRY and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Ticket details are available from Mr Fox on 07817
421 037.
