A team of legendary ex-Arsenal footballers and celebrities are taking on Eastbourne United Veterans in what looks set to be a fantastic one-off charity match. 

Among the list of those expected to play could be former Arsenal player Brian Hornsby, former England international Steve Williams and, from the world of showbiz Spandau Ballet front man Tony Hadley and Ground Force presenter Tommy Walsh. 

the ultimate goal of the match in Eastbourne is to raise money for the charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young), which is supported by Arsenal and aims to raise awareness of Sudden Death Syndrome, which commonly affects young people under the age of 25. 

Other attractions during the event in August will include a  penalty shoot out competition, a display by the Hampden Park Majorettes, face painting, a raffle with a huge range of prizes including signed football memorabilia, and a display by Sussex Ambulance Service. 

Richard Davies, Eastbourne United Veteran Committee member and player said: "This is going to be a great day for us at Eastbourne United and for everyone who comes along.  We're all trying to quite the beers and burgers and get down to some serious training! 

"It's going to be hard playing against such legends but we'll give it our best shot.  We are also looking for volunteers to help on the day so if anyone is interested, get in touch!" 

Local businesses are now being urged to help make the match a reality by sponsoring the event, taking place at the Veterans' home ground at the Oval on Sunday, August 13. 

Companies can support the event for as little as £150.  A full match sponsorship package, including company logo on all posters and flyers, as well as four VIP tickets, is priced at £500.  There are also a range of advertising opportunities available.
