The Mayor will be holding his charity Christmas
bazaar on December 3 (10.30am – 12.30pm) at the Old Parsonage, St Mary’s, Old
Town. The event is in
aid of the Mayor’s chosen charity this year, CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young).
Cllr Graham Marsden said, "I
hope that as many Eastbourne residents as possible will call in at the Old
Parsonage, St Mary’s Church, on December 3.
"The
sudden death of any young person is a tragedy. Much more research needs to be
done to discover the reasons behind Sudden Adult Death Syndrome.
"Providing
the appropriate testing equipment in local surgeries is part of the aim of
this fundraising."
The mayor chose to support CRY
as his charity during his term of office, not only because of its importance
in raising awareness of this type of sudden death and providing support for
grieving families, but also because a young Cavendish School student, known to
the Mayor, died suddenly in 1995 with no prior warning that anything was
wrong.
Entry to the Christmas bazaar
is 50p, which will include coffee/tea and biscuits.
