The
Esperance Hospital handed over a £341 cheque to Eastbourne Mayor Graham
Marsden to boost his charity for the year – Cardiac Risk in the Young. Cllr
Marsden previously visited the hospital back in July, when he opened its
garden party which raised money for various local charities.
Following the event, the Esperance Hospital decided to donate equal amounts to
Eastbourne’s MS Society, Cancer Research, and CRY.
The cheque was presented to the Mayor by Sue Mulvey, hospital manager, and
Katy Muir, marketing and hospital relations manager.
Cllr Marsden said: “I am very grateful to the Esperance Hospital for donating
some of the funds raised at its garden party to my charity.
"The death of any young person is a tragedy but it is made worse when there is
no warning nor apparent symptoms.
"The charity Cardiac Risk in the Young is dedicated to increasing research
into Sudden Adult Death Syndrome and to promoting the testing of all young
people to identify potential risks at the earliest possible stage.
"Throughout
my year of office I will be organising a variety of events to promote the
charity and raise funds for them."
