Grab your partner for a
charity barn dance at the Arndale Centre. The event will be held in the
centre’s main square on October 15, from 7.30 – 10.30pm. Music and a ‘caller’
will be provided by the band Grass Roots and a cowboy supper will be cooked
up. Wine, beer and soft drinks will be available.
The event is to raise
awareness and funds for the Mayor’s chosen charity, Cardiac Risk in the Young
(CRY).
Mayor Graham Marsden said:
“This is the first time that a social event of this type has been held in the
Arndale Centre.
“I hope that as many people as
possible will dress for the occasion and join me for an evening of fun whilst
raising money for CRY.”
CRY was founded in 1995 to
raise awareness of Cardiac Risk in the Young. It offers support to those who
have suffered a loss through a network of affected families and counselling.
In addition, CRY promotes heart screening and ECG testing programmes,
contributes to medical research and donates medical equipment to doctors’
surgeries and hospitals. CRY funds the CRY Centre for sports cardiology at
the British Olympic Medical Centre.
Included within the ticket
price of £12 for adults and £8 for children under 14 years is a cowboy supper
– jacket potato, sausages and beans. Parking will be free with a valid barn
dance ticket.
Tickets are available from the
Mayor’s Office at the Town Hal – call 415020.
