Mayor Graham Marsden is getting ready for his
charity dinner and dance on March 17 - and tickets are selling fast.
The event kicks off at 7pm for 7.30pm at the
Floral Hall, Winter Garden, and boasts a three-course dinner followed by a
dancing and a tango cabaret.
The charity bash is in aid of the Mayor's chosen
charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young).
Councillor Graham Marsden said: "I have been very
pleased with the splendid positive response for tickets but there is still
room for more at the Winter Garden.
"This is an opportunity that should not be
missed. Raising funds to reduce the tragic unexpected loss of young
people from undiagnosed heart disease is very important.
"I hope that as many residents as possible will
support me on Friday March 17 to have fun but with a serious purpose."
The 11-piece band Pzass will be playing after
dinner and tango formation team Los Tangueros will be giving a
demonstration.
Raffle prizes include a night for two at the top
class Bonnington Hotel in London, dinner for two in the Garden Restaurant at
the Grand Hotel, family membership for a year at Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis
Club, and 'Keeper for the Day' at Drusillas Park.
Tickets costing £30 and can be obtained by sending
a cheque, made payable to The Mayor of Eastbourne's Charity, to Miss
B Chwatow, Mayor's Office, Town Hall, Grove Road, Eastbourne, BN21 4UG.
Or call 415020.
Individuals or couples are welcome to purchase
tickets, plus complete tables seating eight are also available.
CRY was chosen as this year's Mayoral charity, not
only because of its importance in raising awareness of this type of sudden
death and providing support for grieving families, but also because a young
Cavendish School student, known the the Mayor during his teaching career,
died suddenly.
