| CRY ECG
machines in local communities
CRY has donated many ECG machines, which are housed in Surgeries, A&E Centres and Cardiac Wards around the UK.
Our
supporting Cardiologists have recommended that we endorse a 12 lead ECG
machine, which is a highly effective and reliable tool. An ECG test
takes minutes to perform, and most importantly, is easy to reproduce.
This means that anyone who presents an ECG indicating a possible
problem, can have a further immediate test to confirm status.
The
impact these machines have on a community is tremendous –
ECG equipment doesn’t often get priority when finances are
stretched by essential everyday items.
Placements
have included the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham; the Bath Lodge
Practice in Bittern, Southampton; Hendford Surgery in Yeovil and
Framfield House in Woodbridge, Suffolk. The generosity of an anonymous
donation enabled CRY to place four ECG machines in surgeries in Norfolk.
These machines do
have a very real impact on patient care. For example, an ECG machine
placed at the Berwyn House Surgery in Worcester was put to good use
immediately. One of it’s first jobs confirmed that a patient had
suffered a heart attack (not a bad bout of indigestion as originally
thought!). Surgery staff were
able to deal with the situation and arrange for immediate transfer of
the patient to hospital.
