'Pump it up' line up announced

Fermanagh Herald - 19th October 2005

Fermanagh Shadow Youth Council is again hosting a variety concert on Friday 28th October at 7.30pm in Mount Lourdes Grammar School, Enniskillen.

The aim of the concert is to provide entertainment for young people. To give the opportunity to display the wealth of talent amongst our young people and raise money for charity.

Proceeds from the concert are going to the charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young).  Local student Richard Martin died from a cardiac related illness last November and his family support this charity.  Richard’s picture has been used on a postcard with seven other young people from Northern Ireland.  This represents that eight young people die every week in the UK from cardiac related illnesses.

During the concert the profiles of the 8 young people from the postcard will be given.  This will raise awareness of cardiac related illnesses amongst young people and will also remember the young victims and their families.

Auditions for acts to take part in the concert took place on Saturday 1 October in the Erne Room, Lakeland forum.  Twenty-one Acts auditioned and it was a difficult task for the panel of 8 Shadow Councillors and Delegates to decide who would go through to the concert.  There was a wealth of talent displayed from high energy dancing to drama and dialogue and rock bands.  The line up for the concert is as follows (no particular order):

Lisa Gannon, singer from St Fanchea’s College; Impact, rock band from the Erne Integrated; WKD, dance group from St Comhghall’s and Mount Lourdes; Nemesis, band from St Michael’s, Portora and Erne Integrated Schools; Madison, singers from the Collegiate and Mount Lourdes; Lauren and Roisin, singers from Mount Lourdes; Jimmi, Band from Portora; Loaded, Band from St Michael’s and St Joseph’s schools; The Boners, Band from St Joseph’s; B and B, dancers from St Fanchea’s and Mount Lourdes; Stacey and Natasha, dancers from the Collegiate.

It promises to be a brilliant night of entertainment as well as raising money for a very worthy cause.  Tickets are selling very fast but some are still available from Shadow Councillors and delegates in each school in the county.
