Following on from the success
of ‘Bash on the Broad’ last year, Fermanagh Shadow Youth council are once
again hosting a variety concert entitled, ‘Pump it Up’ on Friday 28th
October in Mount Lourdes Grammar School.
A
recent study it carried out showed over half of young people cited
entertainment as their top priority issue and many also recognised the need
for interschool and cross community events.
The
Shadow Council are calling out for all young performers to audition to take
part in the concert. Auditions are taking place on Saturday, 1st
October in the Erne Room, Lakeland Forum, from 10am to 6pm.
Registration forms can be obtained from Shadow Councillors and Delegates,
through the schools or by contacting FSYC office (028 6634 3946, or mail to:
info@fsyc.net. All types of Acts including bands, singers, dancers,
drama groups etc are invited to audition.
Meanwhile, the proceeds from this year’s concert will be going to the charity,
CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young).
To
help promote it, postcards carrying the images of eight Northern Ireland
victims were utilised. They included Portora student Richard Martin, who died
last November with a cardiac-related illness.
“This postcard represents the fact that eight young people die every week in
the United Kingdom from cardiac-related illness,” Diane Noble explained. “We
wanted to raise money for a young people’s charity and felt that this was the
perfect opportunity to raise awareness and remember the young people featured
in the postcard and their families.”
The Fermanagh Shadow Youth Council have been fundraising to raise money to
host the concert by bag packing and selling their especially commissioned
wristband with the slogan, ‘Be Heard.’ These are available from Shadow
Councillors and Delegates and at the FSYC office.
If
you have a particular talent that would entertain young people in Fermanagh,
then register to audition and help ‘Pump it Up’ for CRY and Fermanagh.
