Walk recalls pitch tragedy

Folkestone Herald  -  31st July 2008

A Dover family let their feet do the work to raise money for charity Cardiac Risk in the Young.

Patricia Berry, her daughter-in-law Carly Sykes and friends travelled to London earlier this month to take part in an eight-mile walk across eight of the capital's famous bridges.

For Patricia and Carly, the event had extra meaning, coming after losing son and husband footballer Paul Sykes to a sudden heart attack on the pitch aged just 28.  The pair would like to thank the people of Dover for their support.

Chief executive and founder of CRY Alison Cox said: "We are delighted Patricia, Carly and their friends and family were able to join us at this challenging and emotional event.  Support for our fundraising events is hugely important to progress our key services such as lifesaving cardiac screening, and we know many people from across the UK helped support our walkers on this special day.
