Rotarians are marking their 60th birthday with the
publication of a book.
Frinton Rotary Club's "60 Years of Service to the
Community" records the organisation's activities from helping to
refurbish an orphanage in Romania to delivering potatoes to the e3lderly.
A donation from the sale of each £5.99 book will
be given to Cardiac Risk in the Young, which will be launching cardiac
screening clinics in secondary schools in October.
The book has been put together by Rotary member
Brain Blackler, who has spent months researching the history of the club.
He has been helped with information from past
presidents and widows of former members.
Unfortunately, failing health prevents Cyril
Saddler, who was a founder member of the club, from attending the
celebratory dinner.
But the 94-year-old former president has sent a
message to the club which is included in the book.
Mr Blackler said: "I am very grateful to all those
who gave me information, and the book is a tribute to the generosity of the
people of the Frinton and Walton district, without whose help the Rotary
Club would not have been able to provide many of the services the book
records."
The launch ceremony at Caxton Books takes place on
Saturday at 11am. Rotarians and guests will gather at the town's golf
club in the evening for a celebratory dinner.
