The Rotary Club of Frome and Inner Wheel held
their annual harvest thanksgiving at Standerwick Market on October 6.
A total of £710 was raised for
the Julian Memorial Fund at CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young).
The evening started with a
service led by the Rev Rob Widowson and hymns were accompanied by Rotary
president Kim Hyde on Keyboard.
Shirley Wort explained how her
son Julian died from sudden death syndrome aged 28, and how CRY and raising
money for the charity was helping the family come to terms with his death.
A ploughman’s lunch was served
before the business of selling the array of produce.
Rotarian Dennis Barnard did
the auctioneering with his usual skill and banter.
WI president Hazel Shaw
thanked Mr Barnard for his kind generosity, Gwen Barnard, Deanna Barnes and
their committee for their sterling work and everyone concerned in making the
evening a success, especially all who had brought and bought produce.
