Plans are afoot for a fundraising event with a difference at The Mill public house in Rode, where a charity firewalk is set to take place later this month. 

The organisers are holding the event on Saturday 17th May with the hope of raising money for the Julian Wort Memorial Fund.

Julian Wort, from Frome, was only 28 years-old when he suddenly died in his sleep at his home in March 2000. 

Julian's family have been fundraising ever since, raising money for the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY). 

Mill owners Chris and Paul Clark did the firewalk when they held a similar event in 2004.  Chris said: "The whole occasion was  amazing, you become so psyched up you just walk no problem, however my wife go a hot coal stuck between her toes and that hurt!

What is firewalking?

Firewalking is the practice of walking barefoot across a bed of burning coals without getting burned. 

Blending a combination of no-nonsense, easily explainable scientific principals, with proven motivational skills, it will take participants to a level of such unbridled euphoric excitement that they will not just want to walk on fire, they will be foaming at the bit with a wanton desire to get over it and start smashing through their previously 'impossible' barriers. 

Participants on this event often report experiencing huge mind-shift when they realise that they can make fear their servant rather than their master.
