A plaque has been hung on the wall of From Community Hospital's resuscitation room in recognition of the generous donations made by the Wort family in memory of their son. 

Since Shirley and Dave Wort's son Julian died suddenly in 2000 of a rare heart condition, they have been fundraising in Frome.  To date the family have managed to raise over £25,000.  Much of the money has been donated to Frome's old and new hospitals to source valuable equipment.  On Friday 12th September, Shirley and Dave presented the latest contribution to Frome's Community Hospital, a defibrillator, funded through a string of charity events.  On the day, the family were presented with a plaque in recognition of their efforts.

Teresa Ashman, a sister at the hospital told Frome Times, "Shirley is a real stalwart fundraiser for the hospital.  We are always amazed how driven and organised she is and how she comes up with wonderful ways of fundraising. 

"The plaque is a gesture of thanks to the family for all the hard work and to let people who are treated in the room know that the equipment has been funded through the goodwill of local people.  It is also a way to remember Julian."

On the day, Chris Rumming, one of Julian's best friends attended.  Shirley Wort said, "It was a really lovely surprise to see Chris - we didn't know he was going to be there, apparently he found out about the presentation in Frome Times and then decided to come along."
