Cash raised through a year of fundraising has been handed over.

Eileen Tyrer is set to finish her term as mayoress for Harwich this month. 

By holding events such as dances, Mrs Tyrer collected £4,614. 

She said: "That will mean the RNLI, Air Ambulance, Ark Resource Centre, St Helena Hospice and Cardiac Risk in the Young will each get £922 each. 

"I would have liked to have reached £1,000 for each though. 

"But I have very much enjoyed the year.  It has been a very interesting year. 

"It has been lovely meeting all the people."
