A charity football day is being organised in
memory of a man who worked tirelessly for youth football in the Totnes area.
It is 10 years since Colin Rimmer died, and a
special memorial charity football day is to be held at Meadowbrook sports
field in Dartington to help raise cash for his family's chosen charity,
Cardiac Risk in the Young.
Mr Rimmer was well known in the community for his
work with youth football in Totnes and Darlington.
He coached and managed several youth teams,
producing players still playing the game today.
He was an active member of the football committee
for both teams and always go enjoyment from seeing young people achieve
their potential o the field.
He was also a key member of the Totnes carnival
committee and was part of the 1960s team of people who organised a very
successful music festival at Longmarsh.
A keen sportsman himself, Colin helped initiate
the Totnes UK run, an event which is still running today.
Nick Barker, who is organising the charity event,
said the aim was to raise awareness and money for Cardiac Risk in the Young.
The day's events will include a barbecue and
bouncy castle, a series of football games for various age groups and an
evening celebration at Meadowbrook Social Club with live music from three
local bands.
Tickets are £3 for adults and £1.50 for children.
