CRY supporter Julie Tanner wins Diana Memorial Award

We are delighted to announce that young CRY supporter Julie Tanner has won a Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Award for Young People, in recognition of her efforts in compiling the book "101 Reasons (at least) to Get Up in the Morning."

As part of CRY’s 10th Anniversary in 2005, Julie, who is also the editor of the “Kids for CRY” page in the CRY magazine, put together this book of inspirational quotes.

The book features favourite sayings and words of wisdom from a glittering array of celebrities, including Jonny Wilkinson, Julie Walters, Emma Thompson, Ian Botham and Michael Caine.  All proceeds from sales of Julie's book are going to CRY.

Julie's school, the Colchester County High School for Girls, nominated Julie for the award early in 2006.

In a letter that came with the award, Tessy Ojo - the National Programme Director for the Diana Awards - wrote:

"We were delighted to receive your nomination and congratulate you on this wonderful achievement.  Your school is very proud of you.

What makes Diana Award Holders unique is that you are truly inspirational.

The late Princess was a remarkable woman, who seemed to bring out the best and most vibrant qualities in the people she met.  She particularly liked young people and she would, I am sure, be extremely proud of what everyone who receives an Award in her name has achieved."

Congratulations Julie, from everyone at CRY!
