Frequently asked questions - Justgiving

Please find below a summary of questions that have often been asked about Justgiving.

We hope this information answers any questions you may have, but if not please contact the CRY office and we will endeavour to help you.

GENERAL

When does the charity receive the pledged money?

Justgiving wait about 10 days before calling in the money pledged and this is then forwarded direct to the charity's nominated bank account (plus Gift Aid if applicable, less transaction charges). Neither the fundraiser nor charity needs to take any action in this regard.

Justgiving adds Gift Aid to the total raised on my web page. Does this count towards my London Marathon pledge level?

No, as stated on your pledge form and all other communications about sponsorship, your pledge relates to "net" money only. Gift Aid, which is a variable factor according to the donor, is icing on the cake, not part of the cake itself!

Can a Marathon runner set up a page retrospectively to capture last-minute donations?

Yes, but you will need to do it in the "Other" section, not the one set up for specific named sporting events as the latter won't accept the input of a date that has already past. You will still be within your charity's section of the Justgiving site, but will create a general page which might be called, say "...../andysmarathon", to which you can direct people who have not yet sponsored you.

What happens if for some reason I didn't do the event I was using Justgiving to collect sponsors for?

You should contact Justgiving at help@justgiving.com and give them your page address and they will take it down and not seek payment from those who had offered a pledge. Please be aware that sponsors who opted to donate rather than pledge will already have had their cards debited and these are normally non-refundable transactions.

How can donations to my Justgiving web page be directed to a specific Memorial Fund within CRY?

If you want donations to your Justgiving page to go to a specific Memorial Fund, please follow this link to create a page in memory of someone.  You should also specify the person's name in the text on your Justgiving page.  This is very important in helping us to keep track of where donations should be going.
