The walk started at 7.30am from Hampton
Court, crossing all the Thames bridges along the route and finishing at
Tower Wharf, some 32 miles later, at 8.35pm.
Friends, family, CRY staff and volunteers
joined Kathryn for all or part of the walk: -
Diana, Hilary, Carolyn, Julia and Beverley
(Kathryn’s friends); Mark, Alastair and Koula; William and Sharon
(Kathryn’s son and girlfriend); Richard and Helen (Diana’s Son and
Daughter).
A soon as they set off, Kathryn was
interviewed by radio station LBC. The first refreshment stop was at
Teddington Lock, where Kathryn was interviewed by another local Surrey
radio station.
The next refreshment stop was at Kew Bridge,
where Jill Philips, another of Kathryn’s friends, provided a much needed
foot massage for Kathryn, and drove some of the walkers back to Hampton
Court. The support team then headed for Putney Bridge, our next stop, to
meet the group for a delicious lunch of assorted salads, sandwiches and
tortilla wraps kindly provided by Koula.
The final refreshment stop with the support
team was at Battersea Park, although there were a couple more stops at
cafes along the route. The support team and Jill went to Tower Bridge to
wait for the walkers at the end, meet and congratulate them and buy them
a well-earned drink.
Well done and thank you
to Kathryn and everyone who took part, and to those who supported or
sponsored her. Miraculously, it remained sunny and dry for the whole
day!
