The show will go on...even if 'Robbie Williams'
got a better offer.
A top Robbie tribute act WILL be 'entertaining
you' at a sell-out Live in Hope charity event next week.
Robbie, who is better known as artist JK, has
entertained more than 1.5m people in 14 countries with his hit Robbie
Williams tribute show, has stepped into the breach after the original
'Robbie' impersonator made it big on TV.
Preston businessman Tony Slater, who is organising
the event on January 19, said he had originally contacted JK to star in the
show but he was away on tour.
Instead Tony booked tribute artist Tony Lewis, who
appeared on Saturday's BBC show The One and Only.
Tony Lewis, from Leigh, will now go through to the
next round of the battle for a three-month performing contract in Las Vegas
with the renowned Legends in Concert.
This means he can't do the Live in Hope gig.
But, in an ironic turn of events, first choice JK
has ended up coming to the rescue after all.
The sell-out fundraiser will take place at Preston
Grasshoppers Rugby Club.
The spectacular show will raise funds for the
Evening Post's £25,000 appeal to save Preston Women's Refuge's Hope centre.
JK recently completed a theatre tour with this
show One Night of Robbie, which included a sold out night at Lancaster's
Grand Theatre.
He will now join forces with compere and singer
Tony, form Fulwood - who has raised in excess of £650,000 for local causes
to date.
Tony has also revealed he has had to turn down
dozens of requests for tickets.
He said: "It's a complete sell-out and we have
some fantastic prizes to auction off.
"It will be a real success because of the quality
of the entertainment."
Preston Mayor Christine Abram will also be in
attendance and she said everyone is looking forward to a fantastic evening.
Her two official charities, the Live in Hope
appeal and CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) will both benefit from the event.
Organisers said they have managed to contact
almost everyone who has purchased tickets to the charity cabaret and disco
informing them of the change and that they are all happy.
Meanwhile, organisers have send good luck messages
to Tony (Lewis) as he pursues his American dream and in return, Tony has
said if there's any way he can help with future events he will.
