Family tee off in memory of Mark
Following the death of Mark Law Hing Choy, 35, who collapsed and died due to cardiac arrest at Bedford Railway Station in April 2009, his family and friends have raised money for ‘CRY’ (Cardiac Risk in the Young) so that others will not have to experience the loss that they did.

The Ben Crean Trust is working with North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) to raise awareness and funds to increase the number of defibrillators in public places and schools. The Trust was set up after 28-year-old Hale man Ben Crean died suddenly of a heart attack in 2008, and parents Jennie and Nick and sister Amy decided to establish the fund in his honour.

A group of intrepid IT workers are off into the Himalayas in search of yetis – and failing a yeti, some pretty spectacular views.  The three staff members from Custodian Data Centre, based at Maidstone Studios in Grove Green, flew out to Kathmandu at the end of November to start a two-week charity trek up the slopes of Mount Everest.

The memory of a Bickley schoolboy inspired more than 100 pupils to get screened for heart conditions.  Aspiring sportsman Ben Daniels, 15, collapsed following a cardiac arrest while training with the Ex Blues football team in March last year.  He died in hospital three days later.

More than 70 young people had their hearts screened for free in Ealing on Sunday.  The fully booked sessions were funded by the Tom Clabburn Memorial Fund and run by the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), who provided the medical expertise.

Two cyclists are riding 800 miles to Berlin in memory of a Purbeck singer/songwriter who passed away in the German capital earlier this year. Talented Sasha Boyesen, a well-known performer in the Swanage area, died in April following an accidental drugs overdose just two weeks after her 23rd birthday.

Two Dover-born cyclists have ridden to Land's End to raise money for charity.  Richard Varrall, 29, and Tom Stephenson, 30, took on the challenge in aid of the charity Cardiac Risk In The Young (CRY).
23/05/12 Haringey Independent Spurs host heart screening in aftermath of Muamba's collapse
The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation today held a series of heart screenings for young people at White Hart Lane stadium. The event comes just months after Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch last month and was miraculously saved by medical staff at the scene.
