A deadly threat to the young was highlighted by an awareness-raising event.

Southampton woman Mary Abraham is trying to increase knowledge of sudden adult death syndrome that can kill without warning.  Mrs Abraham's eldest son, Philip, died in his sleep in 1995 aged just 16.

At the Marks & Spencer and Sainsbury's superstore in Hedge End the shoppers were entertained by dancers from the Pat Stanford School of Dance to highlight the tragic cause.
The event , over two days also included face painting in return for a donation, a folk band and on one evening Sainsbury's hosted  a food and wine tasting evening with all proceeds going to Cardiac Risk in the Young.

Mrs Abraham said "We are trying to make people more aware.  Few people know anything about it"

Recently, along with her family and friends Mary raised funds to present a £8000  ECG machine to Bitterne Health Centre.
