As CRY announces its Spring and Summer Cardiac
Screening Programme, Ulster and Ireland rugby star Andrew Trimble is the
latest local sports figure to get behind CRY's cardiac screening programme
as a Patron.
He joins local sports stars from the world of
rugby, soccer, GAA and golf who have all got behind CRY's 2011 cardiac
screening programme.
The leading heart screening charity has just
announced details of its Spring and Summer screenings with screenings
scheduled for Jordanstown on 14 and 15 May.
Welcoming the screening programme Ulster star
Andrew Trimble said: "I firmly believe that all young people should attend
cardiac screening whether they are involved in sport or not.
"It is important to know that you are fit to
compete in the sport of your choice.
"Likewise if a problem is diagnosed, it can be
treated. It is better to be safe. My message is simple: Go Get
Screened."
They include Ryder Cup star Graeme McDowell;
Manchester United and Northern Ireland star Jonny Evans and Tyrone Gaelic
football captain Brian Dooher.
US Open winner Graeme McDowell added his weight
saying: "I would encourage everyone to get screened whether you are
involved in sport or not."
CRY has announced all day screenings on 14th and
15th May at the University of Ulster with further dates announced for June
and July.
John Lundy of CRY said: "We are very pleased to be
able to provide a series of dates for screening. We would encourage
local clubs to come forward and bring their young players to get screened.
"We firmly believe that screening helps prevent
unnecessary loss of life. It is the mot unnatural thing in the world
to lose a son or daughter, a husband or wife. Especially if the
condition is treatable.
"CRY's concern is to help identify cardiac risk
and ensure that young people get treatment after they have been screened."
