Aaron Lundy was a highly talented golfer.  He died suddenly on 18 September 1999 aged 19 years of age.  Aaron suffered from a heart condition called Wolfe Parkinson White syndrome.  Since then his father John Lundy has worked tirelessly for CRY - Cardiac Risk in the Young, promoting awareness of Cardiac Screening amongst young people. 

This year to commemorate the tenth anniversary of Aaron's death, three members of the 1996 Ulster Boys team in which Aaron played, have agreed to play a challenge game to raise money for CRY and promote awareness of Cardiac Screening. 

As well as agreeing to take part in the golf challenge, Aaron's former Ulster Boys team mate, Graeme McDowell, has agreed to become a Patron of the charity CRY. 

Graeme said: "Having played golf with Aaron, someone who was so fit and healthy, I still find it hard to believe he died so young.  I would encourage everyone to get screened, whether you're involved in sport or not.  I am honoured to be a patron of CRY and I fully support its screening programme." 

John Lundy said: "We are very appreciative that Aaron's friends in Portstewart continue to honour his memory every year in their own special way and this year it is fantastic that Graeme and the other golfers have offered to play this challenge game of golf.  It will be a real treat for all golf fans, and everyone is welcome to attend." 

The golf match will be followed on Friday evening by a Fundraising Dinner in support Cardiac Risk in the Young.
