Lacy fashions and live music will take centre
stage at a fund-raising fashion show being held to help raise awareness of
cardiac risk in young people.
Tomorrow (Thursday) night's event at Caeser's
Palace nightclub in Bideford will showcase the very latest collections in
lingerie, nightwear and bridal hosiery from Lacy Connections.
The Barnstaple shop is organising the show in
conjunction with Hartland woman Charlotte Luckett, whose brother Martyn died
as as result of a form of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) in 2005.
"The money raised from each £5 ticket will go to
an organisation called CRY, which stands for Cardiac Risk in the Young",
said Citi Sweeney of Lacy Connections.
"We held a similar event last year in Stallone's
nightclub that was a huge success and we hope the atmosphere at tomorrow
night's event will be as good, if not better."
Charlotte told the Gazette that eight young people
die of SADS in the UK every week and that five had died in North Devon in
recent times.
"I'd like to say a massive thank-you to everyone
involved with the show, and to our sponsors Cowling Commercial, Cowling
Levick, N J Luckett Ltd and Passmore Wright," she said.
"It really is a great cause and raising money for
CRY means my brother's death will not have been in vain."
Live music is planned for the interval and
fashionistas will be able to dance the night away in the nightclub following
the show.
A raffle will also take place on the night, with
all the draw prizes being donated by local firms.
