Event Write Ups - 2005

These write ups show the enormous range of fundraising and raising awareness events that take place in aid of CRY.  They are a great source of ideas, and give a good indication of what various types of event involve.

City of Salford Women's 5-mile Run in memory of Amy Williams - 27th November 2005

Barbara Keeley MP took part in this run to show her support for the family of Amy Williams who died in her sleep from a heart condition aged eleven years old.

Parachute jump in memory of Craig Graham - 29th October 2005

Kevin Ovens did a charity parachute jump to raise money for CRY in memory of his best friend, Craig Graham.

Fashion Extravaganza - 20th October 2005

A fashion show at The New Stadium in Swansea.  On show were the latest Autumn / Winter collections.  Proceeds will go to a number of good causes including CRY.

Great North Run in memory of Vicky Johnson - 18th September 2005

Richard Woffendin ran the Great North Run 2005 in memory of his fiancé Vicky Johnson, and to raise money for CRY.

Great North Run in memory of Charlotte Turnbull-Adams - 18th September 2005

After many months of preparation and training, Pippa Bell ran her first ever half marathon in memory of her daughter's friend.

An Evening of Songs For All - 17th September 2005

A concert was held at Kings School, Bruton, in memory of former pupil Alex Buckler.  The concert featured performances from two choirs - The Cider Singers and The Quorum - as well as performances by some of Alex's friends.

Car Jump for CRY - 29th August 2005

Lee Paulson jumped a Rover 216 Sprint over 9 other cars to help raise awareness of CRY, and to raise money for CRY in memory of Ben Thorn.

7th Annual Weary Traveller Bowling Day - 28th August 2005

This year's bowling day at the Weary Traveller Inn in Kidderminster, was opened by Peter Dyke, the Lord Mayor of Kidderminster.  As well as bowling, the event featured a raffle, a barbecue, an auction, a sponsored 'head shave' and much more.

Charity Line Dance in memory of Anthony John Child - 20th August 2005

The Child Family held a charity line dance event in memory of Anthony Child, and to raise money for CRY.

The Celebration of Life Aesthete Show - 7th August 2005

Miniature horse show held in memory of Vicky Johnson.  This year's event featured a tombola, raffles, home made flapjack, and even a fancy dress event for the miniature horses (and one Great Dane!)

London Triathlon - 6th August 2005

Adam Cox entered this challenging event, along with friends Ian King and Warwick Hunter, to raise money for CRY in memory of Adam's brother Simon.

Coast-to-coast walk along the Wainwright route - 30th July to 6th August 2005

James Owens, Andy Blackett and Adam O’Byrne spent 8 days walking across England, passing through some of the country's most stunning and challenging terrain.

Parachute Jump in memory of Martyn Simpson - 15th July 2005

Cheryl Smith organised a mass skydive in memory of her boyfriend Martyn Simpson.  Cheryl and 24 other brave souls did the jump, and were well supported on the ground by friends and family.

Team Ash Coast-2-Coast Cycle Ride - 8th to 10th July 2005

As part of their continuing fundraising efforts in memory of Ashley Livesey, Team Ash took part in a three day cycling event from Whitehaven to Sunderland.

'Heart & Music' charity gala performance - 30th June 2005

An exciting musical theatre production.  There were four charity performances of this show at the Devonport Playhouse, Plymouth.

London to Brighton bike ride - 19th June 2005

Doug Cox rode the London to Brighton bike ride in memory of his son Simon.  Doug raised money for CRY through sponsorship, and raised awareness of CRY by distributing leaflets en route.

Sponsored bike ride in memory of Adam Donnelly - 28th May 2005

A team of riders took part in a 75 mile sponsored bike ride in memory of Adam Donnelly.  The team's efforts raised more than £2000 for CRY.

Parachute Jump in memory of Adam Donnelly - 15th May 2005

Lisa Donnelly and friends did a parachute jump in memory of Adam Donnelly and to raise money for CRY.

Inauguration of new Lord Mayor of Swansea - 13th May 2005

Mair Gibbs, the new Lord Mayor of the City and County of Swansea, has chosen CRY to be her charity.

'Return to the Forbidden Planet' charity performance - 12th May 2005

Kingston Vale Operatic and Dramatic Society (KVODS) performed 'Return to The Forbidden Planet' in May 2005 and the opening night's ticket sales were donated to CRY.

Parachute Jump - 8th May 2005

Danielle Parker did a charity parachute jump to raise money for CRY - and to help take her mind off an impending GCSE Art exam!

Belfast Marathon - 2nd May 2005

Five amateur athletes ran the Belfast Marathon in memory of Aaron Lundy.

London Marathon - 17th April 2005

The training was challenging, especially after not getting an entry the first year I tried.  So, I continued to train through two long British winters, often finding time at 6am before a day's work.

Philip Allen ran the London Marathon in memory of his sister Jane.

"The most important thing was that we honoured Jane by doing it and it seemed fitting that we got to tell the whole country about Jane’s death and just how much she means to us."

Dress Down Day, Three Valleys Water - 10th March 2005

Staff at Three Valleys Water have a monthly Dress Down Day and nominated CRY as the charity to benefit from the proceeds. 

Bristol Half Marathon - 27th February 2005

Amanda, Douglas and Alastair Paterson ran the Bristol Half Marathon in memory of James Paterson.

Bishop Burton College Fundraiser - 3rd February 2005

Travel and Tourism students brought the British seaside to Bishop Burton College - complete with ice cream, 'Hook a Duck' and real donkeys!
