Event Write Ups - Information Stalls and Raising Awareness Events

These write ups show the enormous range of fundraising and raising awareness events that take place in aid of CRY.  They are a great source of ideas, and give a good indication of what various types of event involve.

Fundraising and raising awareness in memory of Simon Jon Cullum - 31st July & 3rd September 2011
Marilyn Cullum held stalls at the Gorleston Cliff Top Gala and the Gorleston Gala Day, to raise funds and awareness for CRY in memory of her son, Simon.

The Button Family spent the day at Lakeside Shopping Centre creating awareness and raising funds for CRY in memory of Graham Button

CRY Raising Awareness Week - 11th to 15th October 2010
UCLU held a week of events to promote CRY, including an Ergathon; 'Sports Nite'; and hangover lounge.

CRY Raising Awareness Week - 9th to 15th October 2010
Halina and Antony Reid embarked upon a week of awareness raising events as part of CRY's annual Raising Awareness Week.  The Reids lost their son Tom suddenly in September 2009, aged just 19.

Banstead May Fayre - 1st May 2010
This year the Banstead May Fayre celebrated its Silver Jubilee, and was CRY was chosen as the charity to be supported by the event.

SADS awareness campaign - 25th March 2010
Leeds Metropolitan University PR students Elizabeth Taylor, Adam Burns and Becky Knowles held a SADS awareness raising campaign at the city centre campus and manned a CRY information stand, after reading about the death of 19 year old Leeds student, Tom Reid.

Raising awareness in Churchill Square shopping centre, Brighton - October 2009
In support of CRY Raising Awareness Week 2009, Joseph Tanner held a CRY information stand in a local shopping centre.

WGC Ladies Youth FC; raising awareness in memory of Mathew Blease - September 2009
Karen Blease runs WGC Ladies Youth FC and for the 2009/10 season the team's shirts feature the CRY logo, to help raise awareness in memory of Karen's son (and team coach) Mathew, who died in 2008 aged just 13.

Raising Awareness Stall (Asda, Great Yarmouth) - 25th October 2008

Marilyn Cullum held a stall in the foyer of her local supermarket, to raise money and awareness for CRY in memory of her son Simon.

Raising awareness stall - 14th to 18th October 2008

Barbara Ingerfield organised a raising awareness stall in a local gym, as part of CRY's Raising Awareness Week.

Raising awareness at St. Govan's Shopping Centre, Pembroke Dock - 14th October 2008

As part of CRY's Raising Awareness Week, Paula Otton held an awareness stall in St. Govan's Shopping Centre, Pembroke Dock.  Paula was raising awareness in memory of Graham Button.

Raising awareness stall - 10th to 16th October 2008
Mary Abraham held a CRY awareness stall at Marks and Spencers in Hedge End, Southampton; and also sold copies of the CRY Raising Awareness Week Quiz to people in the Great Hall, Winchester.

Raising Awareness at Sevenoaks School - 3rd October 2008

CRY County Represenative for Kent, James Brown, returned to his old school in Sevenoaks to speak to pupils about CRY and raise awareness of the dangers of undiagnosed heart conditions in young people.

Raising Awareness at King's College, London - 18th to 19th September 2008

Huda Hamid - President of the Cardiology Society at King's College, London - fronted a CRY information stand at the college's "Welcome Fair" event.  The stand was successful both in terms of raising awareness of CRY, and in attracting new members to the Cardiology Society.

Raising Awareness at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals' Fun Sports Day - 15th August 2008

Pfizer Pharmaceuticals wished to donate some of the proceeds of their Fun Sports Day to CRY, and invited CRY County Representative Rosemary Attridge to attend the event and run a stall to help raise awareness of CRY.

'Flight For Hearts' Departure - 30th July 2007

Consultant Cardiologist Nigel Wheeldon began the first leg of his epic round the world flight, departing from Robin Hood Airport, Doncaster, on 30th July 2007.

Wolves Youth Bank Showcase - March 2007

Ashley Cox, Adele Cox, Aaron Cox, Nathan Robinson, Elle Robinson, Larni Robinson, Danielle Robinson, Stacey-Dawn Round and Sian Morgan took part in the Wolves Youth Bank Showcase to raise awareness of CRY in memory of Donna Marie Cox.
